In this free cooking video Clint will show you how to make the traditional German drink, Gluvine! Or Mulled wine as some people like to refer to it as. This traditional German drink is usually served in the winter to help keep people warm. It is especially here in Milwaukee where it tends to get very cold very quickly. If you live in a climate like Milwaukee we would love to hear what you drink to stay warm, let us know where your from and how bad the weather is in your neck of the woods.

Gluvine or Mulled wine recipe

In a large pot combine:
1 cup of water
2/3 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of honey

Heat until the honey and sugar are combined then add::
1 bottle of red wine
1 to 2 cinnamon sticks
1 to 2 bay leaves
15 whole cloves
1 star anise
8 whole all spice pods
2 large oranges cut into thin slices
The juice and rind of 1 lemon
1 and 1/4 cup dried tart cherries (optional)

Bring the contents of the pot to a slow simmer (about 20-30 min):
Strain the liquid with a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or crock-pot to keep warm. Serve and enjoy!

    Why bring it to a boil? When I was in Germany my cousin told me never ever ever ever ever let it boil.
