the v8 swap makes the car amazing, and gives up absolutely nothing to the rotary.
1.) it doesnt kill handling, youre just an idiot. the thing comes out 15 lbs lighter and the weight distribution is still perfect.
2.) now you have torque. guess you dont like torque, huh?
3.) more power, but that goes without saying.
4.) sounds better
5.)double overdrive means lots of gas saved, 25 on the highway
tell me, markdaddy, what the HELl is so great about a rotary?

@thewonderpig97 Meh, not much more torque around the same or just barely more. About the same, if not less power (it depends on a lot of things such as mods and power adders) The gas mileage I get with my 350 sucks and I've tried everything to get the most MPG I can, same for the rotary. They both suck quite equally in that department. Plus you don't need overdrive if you use the right parts in your axle, if you catch my drift. But they are pretty equal. And yes, weight distribution will be fine

@SnoopDupp why not take the best of both worlds... rx7 is an amazing handling machine and the ls1 and an amazing engine... i've blown 2 turbo 13b's... my ls1 is still goin strong..
i agree rotary has lots of potential, but in high time gas mileage 2010 i would rather have the 20-25mpg the ls1 offers (& with twice the power)

@formula455 stfu dude, when you'll have a v8 of 1.3l of displacement come see me again. And guys why don't you put these stupid americain engine in your stupid americain car instead of destroying our last rx7 :'( 2 cents of an mechanical engineer... rotary is waaaaay better then pistons but need more developpement. cant wait to see the hydrogen rotary in a commercial car (yn)

haha once again all the hater from borh sides ahve to chime in on these videos I have owned 2 rx7s i have a 90 fc that did a 13btt swap on which was fun but lets face it you add boost to a rotary and you need to say prayers everyday that it doesnt blow up and i currently have a 83 fb with a 12a go ol carb and no boost shes runs all day fun car to drive but really no power at all. the v8 is a great swap esp the ls series and in my opinion the rotary is EPIC when NO BOOST is in the equation

dam, id put a 20b turbo in it.. then i would put a ls1 in it... but the 20b would be cheaper

So this is where all the RX-7'S went to..
with LS1,same weight as turboII so the only response would be from the extra 200LBS. of torque. cost,......between 4 and 6K.

Here is my response to those on here who are not gaylords, but have an Ls1 or v8 powered rx7.
im not here to argue about whats better etc etc i have no first hand experience at how a V8 rx7 performs, nor am i here to spam about shit v8's.
I love cars i love driving, i equally love the sound of nice v8!
however i have loved rx7's for too many years because of the entire car as it was produced!
i also think some of the rx7's being produced by the engineers in japan are being over looked.

you are just a troll. if you didn't realize, here's your wakeup call. second, if you want to fight a loosing battle till your own demise, that's your business. for the rest of us, we enjoy driving and driving fast too, and from hindsight we know that we get to do it more often....
