Yep 6 '4'' 1/2 yes an a half inch would you believe...nearly 6'5'' wide! 6''ft wide Ford Zodiac Mark 4's would wince when a Mark 10 Jag was coming the other way! Last true Jag for me is the X300 (94-97) long wheelbase versions have a touch of Mark 10 about them. Latest XJ is stunning but sadly looks like a Lexus.
my father had a 420g by far the biggest car we ever had in our family, what a motor to drive, 6ft 4 wide nearly 17ft long it just fitted on our drive, god knows how much it would cost to run it these days
@fvk32771, I looked at the lines of the car from front to back, similar headlight pattern and front wings & other crossed over design clues. I love the XJ right up until this new version which looks like it is from another planet!
@DingleZilla I can rembember back to 1970 or so when I saw the first XJ6. I was sorely disappointed. The car looked like a Chevy compared with the real british saloons of the 1960's. The 420 and the 420G had a cheerful sunny look that typified class.
How surprised was I, nice to see my car on the internet :) It really is a fantastic Jaguar, incredibly comfortable and draws admiring glances when in use. Grace, space and pace in it's truest form.
You can see where the XJ got it's good looks from. My dad got a 420G in 1974, it got me hooked on Jaguars ever since! Magic car the 420G, the biggest production car ever made in the UK.

@DingleZilla That's a good point. The XJ's did carry forward a lot of design cues. The new one looks like a Lexus.

The text is "Wonderful Lige".
The singer may be "Black" (Album "Wonderful Life" but after a remix by some body. (But the voice isn't exactly Black's.)
