oh lord. I am old old old. First of all did it just say "celebrating 35 years" get out of town. I was like 7 when this was on. and I remember that song by heart. Oh what a wonderful world we used to live in. GO old school tv for marketing to just kids on saturday mornings :)

I believe the ad agency was Leo Burnett and it was directed by Rob Lieberman, who was the first winner of the Directors Guild "Best Director of the Year" award.

In 1989 McDonalds was celebrating their 35th anniversary by showing retro commercials. I don't know the exact year this commercial aired, but watching it was one of my very first memories (I was born in 1977) and so it would have probably been around 1980, 1981...

i'd forgotten about this commercial until a coworker told a student last week that he looked like "quack quack waddle waddle" in his yellow slicker. Then the whole chant came back to me, just like that.
