I think the streetlights are probably high-pressure sodium lamps and not fluorescent, but it's definitely that; this won't happen under natural light. Artificial light flicker is a big bummer of digital video that we all have to deal with. Ah well, such is life.

That's probably caused by the streetlight; since AC runs at 60Hz (50Hz in Europe), many artificial lights (fluorescents especially, probably sodium streetlamps too) flicker. Normally your eyes don't notice it, but the faster a camera goes (higher framerates for slow motion), it eventually begins to show the flicker in (some types of) artificial lighting.

I'm assuming that you mean the Canon 5D Mk II... if you're into video, the 5DII is mostly a stills camera and has issues with things like rolling shutter and only one framerate (30p). And the onboard mic sucks. However, it will outperform a RED One in low light, and allows for shallower depth-of-field and focus pulling. If you're into stills, consider the Canon 5DII ($2700 + lens) or 7D ($1700, smaller sensor, more video options). Otherwise stick to a dedicated videocamera.

So u tellin me its not worth it? Red Scarlet begins at 3750 Dollars for a complete kit. Althought its not out yet, thats why i said wait and buy it when it comes out. Btw, watch my newest video and ull know that I do alot of videoediting and shooting! :)

The Jitter comes from the fleurosent street lights. they flicker on and off slower than the cameras frame rate. so you get a slight flicker! slow motion and fleurosent lights dont go well together! you can notice this if you watch tennis finals or even football filmed at slow speeds. natural light fixes all
