"Hetch Hetchy: Yosemite's Lost Valley" is new 20-minute documentary film. This video clip is a two-minute excerpt. Buy the complete video online at: http://www.hetchhetchy.org/
Narrated by Shari Belafonte, the film features brilliant footage and photographs of Hetch Hetchy's great granite walls and booming waterfalls, Tueeulala and Wapama. The film focuses on Restore Hetch Hetchy's mission for a "win-win" restoration of Yosemite National Park's Hetch Hetchy Valley, and is now available on both VHS and DVD formats.
The film features informative interviews Dr. Roderick Nash, author of Wilderness and the American Mind, and former Interior Secretary Don Hodel. In 1988, Secretary Hodel proposed Hetch Hetchy's restoration and commissioned a preliminary study by the Bureau of Reclamation to explore "win-win" restoration options.
I think at 1:06 is incorrect and that you are taught a lie in that you state generations of Miwoks Indians. What the Yosemite National Park Service fails to tell the public is that the First Discovery of Hetch Hetchy Valley, Joe and Nate Screech met the Paiute Chief and he said he owned the whole place. Also above Hetch Hetchy is a pine nut grove only transported there by the Paiutes dated approx 700 years ago. Also the Oldest Central valley Indian basket was found there and it was Paiute.

Any person that uses the water from Hetch Hetchy that calls themselves environmentalists and yet opposes the removal of Hetch Hetchy dam has no "environmental" credibility whatsoever. None.

The central valley farmers use 80% of California's water supply. 80% of that water is lost to evaporation by watering crops with sprinklers. If crops were nourished from underground pipes and drip irrigation farming water consumption would drop DRAMATICALLY, California would easily be able to sustain several times its current population.

I like the way it is the water talking to me, Very clever, got my intention. It leaves me wanting more. I want to hear The Story. Nice job! Sometimes the images are not as clear as I would like them to be.

Nice Video. We Paiutes used to camp in Hetch Hetchy Valley before it was dammed up.
