This image is for a book cover commission i'm currently working on that features both darkness and light, wolves, dreams, spirits, trees and various other fantasy elements. I'll be uploading more videos of the process so return soon and watch how this sketch develops into the final colour artwork.

Brushes & Colour Wheel - Download via my website.

Double Window - Open your image in Photoshop, then click Window, Arrange, New Window. You will need to drag the windows off the bar and resize them in order to see both at the same time. The Zoom % for each window can be altered individually by using the navigator.

  • Mike, your work is really beautiful. I am inspired to get back into doing my artwork. Can you give your opinion about Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended. You use CS4, yes? If I understand this correctly, you can do original artwork as well using CS5 Extended, yes? and not just digital photo work?

  • @rawrichnfitforlife Yes I'm using CS4. I'm not sure about CS5 or CS5 Extended, I haven't had the opportunity to try either of them. I would imagine that the Extended version would be basic. However I rarely use anything other than the paintbrush tool anyway. In the full CS5 version, there is a new mixer brush that behaves like a real paintbrush. Allowing you to create very realistic brushstrokes. I'm interested in trying it myself!
