Yet another epic boss. With a very long intro scene, however. Good thing I got this recorded right first try, or I'd have been very annoyed xd. And god damn it Square you already used this plot idea in FFIV:TaY, why have it in both of them lmao.
*Boss*
Seymo-...Cid Raines
*Overview*
This is actually a really tough fight. You have to know exactly what to do, or you'll be overwhelmed very easily. This is another fight I recommend using the Shrouds in. The party I use cannot do buffs, so it's best to start off strong. You don't have to, but obviously I did to fit this in one video. Eventually the boss dispels them anyway, though.
Note that you can switch out Light now for others, though I would probably hold onto her.
*Difficulty*
4/5
*Paradigms*
Light/Vanille/Fang
Com/Sab/Sab (Default)
Rav/Rav/Com
Com/Rav/Com
Com/Med/Com
Med/Med/Sen
Com/Med/Sab
*Equipment*
Light: Brawler's Wristband, Tungsten Bangle
Vanille: Gold Bangle, Shaman's Mark
Fang: Silver Bangle, Power Wristband
*Status*
Light: Strength: 316, Magic: 246, HP: 1620
Vanille: Strength: 169, Magic: 253, HP: 1710
Fang: Strength: 290, Magic: 177, HP: 1690
**Strategy**
I had a hard time figuring out a successful party for this. I came to the conclusion that Light/Vanille/Fang work well with Shrouds. The boss can be hit by almost every status ailment, so having double Sabs in the party is a great idea. You lack a Syn with this party, but you won't need it much anyway, due to the boss dispeling your buffs later on in the fight, multiple times. Also a Sen is semi useful for the ultimate attack.
Start in Com/Sab/Sab. Hit the boss with Slow/Deprotect/DeShell/Imperil/Poison, if you can get it all out. Then switch to Rav/Rav/Com to start up the Chain Gauge. If you can Stagger Cid, you'll probably kill him. But it's very difficult to Stagger him. This is just to get his Chain Gauge up so he takes more damage, as he is pretty resistant to attacks. Heal when needed, Com/Med/Com works just fine for this, you always want the Chain Gauge to be up. If status ailments disappear, re-apply them. If he's in defensive mode, he will use Guard. Slam him in Rav/Rav/Com during this. Sab if needed. For his healing phase, he may use Esuna to remove some status ailments.
The hard part is halfway through his HP he'll transform and use his ultimate attack. This removes all buffs and debuffs, while dealing good damage. The second you see the move name pop up, switch to Med/Med/Sen so you take less damage and heal quickly. Then switch to Com/Sab/Sab to quickly get debuffs back on while keeping Chain Gauge up. He will use this often. The other problem is you get hit with debuffs too randomly. Deprotect is the worst, he also gains a big physical combo. It only hits one person, but if say Light is in Deprotect, she could get KOed and then game over. So try to heal the status ailments.
The idea of the fight is to constantly keep the boss debuffed, your HP up, and the Chain Gauge up at all times. If you do this, you should win without too much trouble. But he's fairly fast, so Slow is extremely helpful but even with it things can go wrong very fast. I was surprised at the jump in difficulty here.

@brendude95
I suppose they don't show us what's really underneath that skirt of hers, huh...
5:27-...lol, she's not gonna live much longer. Yay for 1700+ HP.
0:27-Well, that was easy.
0:38-Another effeminate-looking man/vampire...
4:02-Lol, fake tie
4:40-Burst into aura, snap your fingers, and all of a sudden, it's a cage match with the Venom logo from G.I. Joe.

wow ur character's stats seem to be extremeley low to me. My Lightning is 650+ total stats(besides hp)
and you dont use rav/rav/sen a.k.a. mystic tower?
and i recommend using sazh, because he's got the offensive boost. And has haste which is awesome.

It's a brilliant battle system. Yes it is hard, but it isn't hard because you are confused at what to do, your fingers are always moving rapidly. Fighting a battle in FFXIII is as easy as breathing to me.
Easy to use, but the foes are hard.
