That's an uninformed response. As a fish hobbyist, diver and amateur marine biologist, I can tell you that fish indeed feel pain. Look up the scientific journals concerning the rainbow trout experiment if you're curious about the details.

You are right about the meat flexing after death, though. Those are post-mortem spasms.
