Jacques Offenbach was a french-german compositor who raised to fame as manager, director and compositor of opererettas in french between 1855 and 1880.
The Barcarole theme is the most popolar and inroduces the third act of the operetta. It is set in Venice in the Galery for celebrations in a palace on Canal Grande, crossed by "gondole".
The duet is played between the two protagonists: Nicklausse e Giulietta.
