Look up Mbube on Youtube for a list of performers.
Originally in 1939 in South Africa by Solomon Linda, then by Pete Seeger with the Weavers in the 1950s, then of course the Tokens got hold of the song and it became the ubiquitous "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in 1961.

Solomon Linda's Mbube became synonymous with that style of African close harmony... he was a genius who didn't get the credit he deserved.

Actually, the song was written by Solomon Linda and first recorded by The Evening Birds. And unfortunately over time digressed to this version and eventually making it's way into the greedy hands of Disney as well. By the way the translation of the lyrics that he reads at the beginning are complete BS. There is actually a documentary out based on the journey of this song as it's really quite amazing, it's called "A Lion's Trail".
