During the same summer when I went to chase the Yreak Western, my old man and myself went to pay a visit to the Virgina and Truckee (29 wasn't running, I was PISSED!) and the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

The locomotive featured is the Nevada State Railroad Museum No. 8 . This 4-4-0 was built by Cook.

Enjoy In-Cab views and Run-Bys of the NSRRM No. 8 in "Chasing No. 8- A Day at the Nevada State Railroad Museum."

  • Is she still running or is she out of service?

  • @jedi725 Couldn't tell you, it's been years since I've been there.

  • Number 8 is now down with awaiting tube & crown sheet repairs, while 25's tender has a water leak. So the 25 is handling the excursions with 8's tender coupled behind her. It will be like this for a while due to low funds. The 8 will be back in the forseable future.

  • That's funny. To be honest these things happen once in a while and to be honest it's expected to be amoung elder locomotives.

  • Uh, old No.8 was not built for Sierra Railway. No.8 was built several years before they formed. It worked around the center of the U.S. No.8 was acquired by Short Line Enterprises in the 70's and was used on the Sierra under their road name. Then SLE sold No.8 to NSRM in the late 90's. Sorry to be a critic.

  • Thanks for correcting me.

  • that is a nice locomotive!

  • 8's whistle sucks.

  • @SierraRailway You also forgot to mention the few years it spent as V&T 28 up in Virginia City on the real Virginia & Truckee Railroad Company!
