Just Jane will fly again. There are now 3 airworthy merlins in the hanger, in addition to the ones she has now. We all need to raise awareness and get more funding for her. The CAA will want to strip her bare before she is classed as fit to fly. She'd flap her wings and soar above the clouds now if we let her. Any lottery win of mine is going straight to the Pantons.

Awesome! I was willing the pilot to rotate & take the ol gal up for a circuit! I hope one day the owners decide to modify her in order to conform with CAA specifications that would allow her to fly. COME ON GUYS- DO IT!!!!

I've been hearing rumors that they're thinking of possibly returning "Just Jane"to airworthy status, especially given the fact they just received a bunch of parts from the Nanton Lancaster in Canada.

hi,
the 109 was there this bank holiday gone, just to do a flying display, bloody good though the pilot did some mock attacks at airfield, made me duck quite a few times, LOL
you missed out on a good day, i hope this year i'll be able to see 'jane' do a tail up taxi.

I've been to several taxy runs and was there at the first tail up in Sept 2007. It was absolutely fantastic. The taxy runs are truely awesome, they certainly give me a lump in the throat. I can quite easily imagine those brave boys going off on a mission. I never tire of visiting East Kirkby, it really is worth supporting the efforts the Panton family put into this. And who knows, maybe one day, Just Jane will reach for the sky again.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, my Dad and I have visited East Kirkby practically every year since 1995 and we never tire of those wonderful Merlin engines firing up. As for Just Jane going airborne, it's a colossal risk, but who knows? ;-)

Getting this plane flying again is what the government should fund during normal sutuations instead of building the bigest shopping centres around and puting everyone out of work. I dont thinck it would take much work.

Opinion on this is pretty much 50:50. There are those who think that it's too much of a risk and that losing the Lanc would kill the museum, and those who believe that it's a PLANE, and therefore should do exactly what those great engineers of the 40s designed it to do.
Personally, I believe that it WILL happen eventually. They have the money and the resources to do it, and seeing Just Jane and the City of Lincoln up there together would be a dream come true for my Dad and myself.

Cool, so the ME109 is there now? I can remember Fred telling us they were going to receive one when we went up there just before Easter! We'll HAVE to go up and see that!
Thank you for your comment, glad you enjoyed it.
