The Bill: Gun Runner - Kick Off

Out in the patrol car, PCs Beth Green and Will Fletcher are forced to screech to a halt when a huge box of fireworks explodes in front of them. Jumping out of the car, they chase after teenager Jason Patterson.

Back at the station, Jason admits that he stole the fireworks from his step-dad Ryan Fuller's garage, but swears he didn't set them off but that they unexpectedly exploded. The officers later search the garage but discover the rest of the fireworks are missing. Concern grows when they realise Ryan is at a football derby in Millwall, with the fireworks. Will the officers find him before they explode?

Elsewhere, Sun Hill officers gather in the briefing room and are told they will be policing the football match. Surprise ripples through the room when they learn Sergeant Smith is deep undercover, with DS Max Carter as his handler and will be attending the match with local hard man and arms dealer, Kieran Wallace. As Smithy arrives at the match with Wallace and Denis Turner, DI Neil Manson and PC Mel Ryder keep watch in the observation tower.

During the game, Wallace takes Smithy and Turner into one of the private rooms where Smithy is introduced to the head of Wallace's gang, Darren Cutler.

While Cutler cross examines Smithy, the sergeant becomes increasingly agitated by Turner's constant sarcastic interruptions and impresses Cutler by grabbing the cord from the blinds and wrapping it around Turners neck, warning him to keep quiet.

Later, Smithy tricks his colleagues by swapping clothes with Cutler so the gang leader can make a quick getaway. His actions leave several worried officers fearing that Smithy is in too deep and has become a maverick.
