Last night something
pretty bad happened
we lost a friend,
all shocked and broken
shut down exploded
Jeddy 3 is what we first called him
then it was Jed,
but Jed's system's dead
therefore so's Jed
We assembled him in the kitchen
made out of this and,
made out of that and,
whatever was at hand
When we finished Jed
we were so proud
we celebrated,
we congratulated
at what we'd created
Jed could run or walk sing or talk and
compile thoughts and
solve lots of problems
we learned so much from him
A couple years went by
and something happened
we gave Jed less attention,
we had new inventions
we left for a convention
Jed had found our booze
and drank every drop
he fizzled and popped,
he rattled and knocked,
and finally he just stopped

I heard this song earlier today, and I really love it. It's some seriously great stuff. They have another song about Jed called Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Ground) and if you like this, it's definitely worth it to listen to the other one, too.

...cried, poor robot. Tis really hard to try to replicate the sound and impossible to play well live, everyone just looks at me and thinks i'm making it up. I also like his other poem, tis good too.

@daxbath True but I advise anybody who likes this stuff listen to the album from start to finish as it is a loose concept record and easily one of the finest releases of the 21st century.

i think its probably actually about a person, not just a robot, that may just be the metaphor for the song

@SnoopJeDi: The images of the robot are from the movie "Tobor, the Great", 1954. The others were taken from documentaries about the planet Mars. The rest is just edited.
