  • That was a little half assed, needs more practice.

  • If you knew anything about dressage you would know your comment was moot. Dressage is the pursuit of perfection. Every horse, rider and movement always could be better. Even the Olympians do not score perfect 100s. A good rider knows they could always be better. They relish practice not fear it. Thats one of the reasons I use videos. So if you have something more constrictive to say other than half assed as that is little to no help I would welcome your advice.

  • Perhaps you meant she needed more impulsion? Or were you referring to the short length of the levade? Or the way she fell out of it instead of holding and coming down into a balanced piaffe?

  • This is another thing a good rider knows the physical limitations of their horse. Viola is 18 years old and has ringbone (a form of degenerative arthritis.) The levade is an extremely physically demanding move. While I want perfection I accept the fact that Viola is getting older and to hold herself in that position is difficult for her. So I ask her to go up, not force her to go up or to stay up.

  • Some days are better than others. My goal for Viola is to keep her in working condition for as long as possible. This means not pushing her too hard but still keeping her in shape.

  • Marvellous very attractive horse, very elegant movements.

My respect to the rider for an excellent performance - her seat, position and aids are perfect.

Preparation and implementation of the levade are as good as could be - outstanding dressage comparable to High School Dressage.

That rider is une écuyière extraordinaire!

The following piaffe slows down, in spite of the attempt to activate through a tip of the crop. The end is not as good as the start.

  • Thank you.

  • I swear my horse dose something like this when she is pissed off. Shes not in the best shape so i think she could probally learn to do a levade, but no way am i going to take that chance with her.

  • Viola is pretty amazing, i dont know what i would do with out her.
