Navy Submarine rescues of downed B29's in the Pacific 1944-1945. Color and B&W archival footage I discovered while researching my Uncle Bob Maloy (B29 bombardier, 869th Squadron stationed on Saipan 10/1944 - 7/1945) .
Navy subs and ships rescued over 500 downed airmen in the area between Japan and the Marianas during the aerial bombardment of Japan from bases on Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima.
