the magical guitar effects have vanished. :-(

@bleuroo For a good example of what I mean by "another layer", check out the video on YouTube for their live reworking of "Woman on a Train" from the 2006 Hard Rock Vegas concert (Maccafixx uploaded it). The song is essentially the same, but the guitar is softer and has more echo, and Cy sings it in a gentle way that's got more nuance than the original and which slowly builds into a powerful ending. The feeling is bittersweet and nostalgic, but without losing the original hypnotic vibe

@clarkem Agreed. This version is nice, but to me it sounds more like, mm ... like Creed I guess, than like the Fixx. There's nothing wrong with revisiting old songs, but I think it's most successful when the revision still keeps the spirit of the old version but adds another layer.
For me, the original "Outside" feels very anguished -- like the band was aching to be outside when they were stuck indoors. This version loses that anguished feel.
Now it's more like a campsite singalong.

Utter brilliance. This song still brings me to tears.

Just another show of great versatility from The Fixx.
Years ago - in London - I auditioned with them before Dan K joined them on Bass, they are all terrific guys and dedicated to their craft - sure wish I could see them live more often.

I love this. This is absolutely addicting.

The Fixx has always been one of my favorites.. Woman on a train is such a cool tune as well as Outside.

LOVE the snare drum sound.

@Tjs964 Did you ever hear the instrumental version of "Reach the Beach" from the 12" single?
I learned so much about patience and patterns and being highly methodological when it came to playing my drums, I mean, in the 80's when I was learning to play. The contribution of Adam Woods on the kit is quite immense. So subtle, yet vital to the overall flow and feel of the song.

Great tune. I kinda miss the guitar riff though... was a really great hook.
