1st Movement: Allegro ma non tropo, un poco maestoso. (Part 1 of 2)

The 9th Symphony was written by Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770-1827) in 1822-24, Sketches for the 1st Movement and Scherzo 1817-1818, its first performance was in Vienna on May 7th 1824.

Recorded in the Festspielhaus, Bayreuth, on the re-inauguration of the Bayreuth Festival in August, 1951. Recorded in by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Elisabeth Hongen, Hans Hopf, Otto Edelmann, and the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Wilhelm Furtwangler.
