  • chicago played a lot of freestyle. also dj's in chicago were not all house dj's.

    the name house music was not mentioned until 1985 or 85.

    the hot mix 5 started in 81 playing d train yaz yellow capricorn chaz jenkel jimmy ross. dj's were on the radio in chicago in 1978/79 kenny jammin jason of the hot mix 5 was playing disco mixes. in 84 farly jackmaster funk played a derived version of early house. jack your body was made dj's in europe loved it and a genre began. out of space to write.

  • also a bit surprised by all the freestyle in a city where house was born. variety's a good thing tho. Chicago and Detroit djs alike used to and probably stll do,  spin Depeche Mode and New Order, depending on the club you went to, according to one native chicagoan i know.
