Here's a quick video of how to tear down a completed cartridge using a kinetic bullet puller. In this case it's a .223 being broke down. The .223 cartridge that I tore down was one that I used to setup my bullet seating die. It had a bullet seated, but no primer or powder. It is perfectly safe to use a kinetic puller to remove a bullet and powder. I just didn't want to tear down a good round, so I used my test cartridge as an example.

  • Is it safe to uses this if your bullet has a primer

  • @XxrushxX1 yes

  • how do you remove the backing?

  • @rejectzombie What "Backing"?

  • is there a tool to replace the bullet?

  • @MaryStewart Yes. It's called a bullet seating die.

  • I discovered that you do not need to use the colliers that come with the bullet hammer. A regular shell holder works great.

  • Hey ArcherAce2, I have to respectably disagree with your premise about the tightness of the collets making a difference in the ease with which a bullet puller works.

  • @XxrushxX1 if the primer is not old one of silver fulminate, yes, you can do this with the primer on the cartridge!

  • Total stupid question, but if I were to tape the hell out of a bullet to a normal hammer, would that make a difference?

  • Can you just pull the bullet out with your hands?

  • @ArcherAce2 probably means the primer. You need a de-primer (I think that's what it is called), which is a part of a press (I think).

  • @dozzy000 I dont think there a collet that small but if there was I dont see why not..... But why would you?
