The Honey gate (valve) on the extractor is improperly positioned. The screws should be to the left and right, not top and bottom of the gate, that will prevent the honey from pouring over the screws and prevent the gate from accidentally opening wide as happened.

@Rattlerjake1 correct, this was a borrowed extractor, and i didn't want to change the valve in case it broke while tightening, i pointed it out to the owner, eric.

why don't you just spin it the other way instead of turning them

Do you have to clean the extractor every time you harvest?
