This scene, along with several others, are perhaps my favorite of the scenes from Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, "Barry Lyndon." It is perhaps the most beautiful film ever created.

  • My favorite Kubrick Film..I feel like this movie gets overlooked due to being made between Clockwork and Shining..

  • @dukane14 It is also my favorite of Kubrick's work. It appears that only recently has it even begun to acquire the recognition it richly deserves.

  • It's such an epic film.

    Thank you very much.

  • @BoundlessFreedom Indeed it is. Many fans of this film are waiting with baited breath for a blu-ray release. Assuming it is done correctly, I am feeling equally anxious.

  • @Mechanized0 It's on Blu-ray right now. You can get it on Amazon.

  • @minamu8 Indeed. My previous post was created over a year ago. I purchased the film the day after it was released on blu-ray. Unsurprisingly, it was quite stunning.

  • Opening shot starting at 0:55 looks amazing for not being HDR.

  • damn you horses!

  • beautiful film my favorite kubrick would have to be the shining though

  • @dukane14 I think many people find it very slow moving and not as exciting or frightening as his most famous films.

  • interesting how in thirty seconds kubrick fates the entire three hour film with a duel...

  • Its always bothered me that Barry Lyndon won the most awards of Kubrick's work and yet is also his most sorely overlooked film. It is such a beautiful film and deserved to be a part of Warner Bros. Kubrick set a few years back.

  • Love 2001 too...and although Barry Lyndon is my favorite I'm hesitant to call it Kubrick's best if you know what I mean because 2001 may take that crown...I think the boldness of this film is what makes it my favorite...

  • @dukane14 my favorite is 2001, however I do agree. As a visual artist (which, what else *is* a director than a visual artist?) it's his most accomplished film.
