THE uncle of a British soldier killed in a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan, challenged politicians today to send their own families to fight.
Allan McClure was speaking at the funeral of Private Aaron McClure in St Thomas Church, Ipswich.
The 19-year-old from Ipswich was one of three soldiers killed when he was hit by an American missile in Helmand Province on July 23 (2007).
In a tribute read out during the service, Allan McClure said: In these days of technology, I cannot comprehend how something like this can happen.
Why cant governments learn from their mistakes? This will happen again and some other poor family will have to go through the pain, torture, torment, anger and loss that we are all suffering now.
Tony Blair, George Bush, Gordon Brown and all other so-called leaders and politicians - send your own families to the frontline. Feel the pain that death brings. Do your own dirty work.
About 500 mourners attended the service, many wearing T-shirts emblazoned with RIP Aaron James McClure.
Colleagues of Pte McClure, from The Royal Anglian Regiment, stood in salute as his coffin was carried into church.

@Hperman09Oh get over it even a vast number of American citizens are against your nasty global military establishment. Maybe you should join that growing throng of American citizens who are against the pentagon/US military establishment. British military have gained nothing by being allied with US military in these wars except more cuts by David Cameron. British military doesn't have the resources to defend Britain let alone help America. Crazy.US has enough resources to go to war by themselves.

@GingerbreadMan1994 Agreed. Normal Americans are very nice people. However I have noticed those who support their American forces are more aggressive and arrogant and not as nice and very rude compared to your average joe public American who are as much against these wars as your average jo British person. It seems it is the US military establisment and their supporters who like all these illegal imperialist wars.

@publicmario17 Were NOT Libya!-It's not 'Us Brits' with the power to stop/prevent these 'incidents' happening-(or creating a uk equivalentnt of CAS) IF you want 'blame' you'll acknowledge that like many other countries-worldwide, we've had ours sold from under us too. Blame Governments, dont 'insinuate' in anyway that its us English/Jo-Public !?! We're NOT the ones wrong-That's just blinkered shallow vision-We see as much as you-& everyone else-& we're as held down in just the same way you are

@EMPIRE01233 watch?v=eNGSyACeY8A&feature=related watch this......you make it sound like Americans are trigger happy....we don't like to kill especially friendlies and most of the time friendly fire is due to human error and most of the time the person pulling the trigger isn't the one who made the error

@dezzyhibs friendly fire is almost always due to the fact that ground troops don't convey there locations correctly ...if someone tells you that there are no allies in a certain area because the ground troop gave coordinated 3 miles west and the aircraft sees them ...he then circles around and ask are you sure... and if the ground troop doesn't send a message then he shoots most of the time its due to human error and most of the time its not the person pulling the trigger who makes the error
