We are doing a video, documenting this entire project which entails grafting the body of a 1970 Mach1 onto a complete platform of a 2006 Mustang GT 4.6 5-speed. Our goal is to build redesign, and fabricate etc. a 1970 Mach1 body onto a full 2006 platform which includes ALL Mechanical, electrical, safety, suspension drive train, and all technical attributes of a 2006.

The end result will be you walk up to this vehicle which appears to be a beautifully restored Mach 1 in every respect. You then open the door than, -Voila-! you've transcended into 2006. You open the Hood or look under the car it's all 2006. Finally, you get behind the wheel and drive away and it's 2006.

  • I just watched all the step by step photos you took, what a great concept. I am sure this has tested your problem solving skills. Cant wait to see the finished project.

  • one thing i would love to see is the spare tire compartment modified to fit a full sized matching spare wheel and tire =) details like that make the project very sexxy in my opinion.

  • is there a # 7 ???

  • Hi, great job so far.

    is there any further progress?

thanks for the progress so far on youtube, very cool

  • The ENTIRE shell is tack welded together and is lowered down onto the rails its location though critical is adjustable it all depends on the builder determining what would be easiest for them and would least effect the final profile of the car. Moving wheel openings may end up making this car though awesome but with more of a kit car appearance.

You guys are doing an awesome job and can't wait to see more. As for teamhavocaz there's definitely more then one way to skin a cat errr Mustang!!

  • the answer is pretty obvious?well u didnt answer it, I asked What problems would u have moving it back .If u lower the shell before welding it and move it back 2 inches where the wheel wells line up centered ,that way u dont have to trim the back 2 inches or mess with the wheel arches ,then it would be easier than cutting the wheel arches ,carfully welding them then filling the seams with bondo to make it nice and straight @6 to 8 hour job each panel. i just think the side profile will be off.

  • Uh, the answer is pretty obvious... you tell me, would it be easier moving the ENTIRE shell back 2 inches, compared to simply modifying the panels? Thats how the shell needs to fit on the car... Moving it forward or backward 2 inches would have thrown it off completely, and other things would not have ligned up properly... Wheel arches are the least of the worries...

  • Im a shop owner who thought of doing this to a 68 fastback someday,Thank you for showing it is possible. What problems would u have if u moved the 70 shell back 2 inches instead of cutting and moving the 4 wheel arches back 2 inches?
