@defeatedwyvern Actually, the columns he took down were after Delilah cut his hair - Samson's captives blinded him after his power was taken and he repented. Then God granted him his strength again, and he brought down the columns on everyone and killed them, including himself.
Song lyrics are like a poem, in that they can be interpreted in several different ways. I like the Samson theory and love the biblical allusions in this song - indeed, I thought it was about Samson and Delilah at first. But then I heard the cancer story and it makes sense too. There isn't a "wrong" way. Just enjoy the song, whichever way you want to think of it! <3
I believe that the story is true and what she means with the line: "The bible didn't mention us.." is that their love has forgotten. I think its very based on the real story :D
Some people don't seem to get the concept of a metaphor and think it's actually about Sampson from the bible when she clearly says the bible didn't mention them. Also "PimpinJesus" (nice name) is right, they were deficient in the area of wonderbread in biblical times.
Well here is the real story, Samson loved Delilah and she betrayed him because of money, but the truth is she loved him the first sight, their love story was not mentioned in the Bible, and the columns were the things Samson used to take down when his hair was still long,
