This How-To Video shows you how to turn on your Playstation 3's fan so that it will do all the inside cleaning for you! This is a great feature that Sony has made hard for you to find, let alone, figure out. I'm not sure why they didn't just have a fan on / off switch but I'm not the designer. But anyways, that's how you do it and if you have any questions please ask me in comment or personal message form.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1: Turn your Playstation 3 entirely off by clicking the on/off switch in the very back.

Step 2: Place your finger on the 'Eject Disc' button on the front and turn the Playstation 3 back on with one finger still on the 'Eject Disc' button. (Your Playstation 3 should then turn on and start up the fan)

Step 3: (Once the fan stops after around 30 seconds) Turn the Playstation 3 Off and then back On again in the back.

Step 4:NO MORE STEPS... YOU'RE ALL DONE!

Note - To keep your Playstation 3 from overheating, keep it in a vertical position as shown in the video.

DISCLAIMER:
Use at your own risk! I've gotten several sources that say this is good for your PS3 and that it makes it run smoother and I've also got sources that say this could damage your PS3. I've personally not had any problems using this hidden feature but apparently others have, so use at your own risk! I would NEVER try to damage or hurt anyone's items by uploading a false how-to video. I hope this helps your PS3 like it did mine. Also, make sure to check out my other great how-to videos and subscribe to my channel.

Thanks~

ALTERNATIVE CLEANING METHOD:
Instead of using the built in fan feature, you can clean your Playstation 3 out by using a simple household object... A Vacuum! Just use the vacuum on all the air vents on the PS3 and that will clean out most of the inside dust as well as the outside dust. I hope one of these cleaning methods worked for you! • @KiddDoolittle That's why I have an air purifier in my room keeps it dust free well almost. And this is the ps3 fan test not an auto clean it send's it into a false overheat causing the ps3's fan's to spin at max speed.

  • this doesnt make your ps3 run smoother. this just intensifies the amount of dust brought in by the fan. think about it. your ps3 brings in dust and dirt because the fan is on and if you make the fan spin faster you get more dirt. FASTER FAN + DIRT = YOU CLEANING BECAUSE YOU THINK THIS FEATURE WORKS.

  • Use a small office fan and point it to the front of the ps3. Put the fan on its low setting cycle and let it rotate. This will keep the ps3 cooler then anything you can do besides opening it up and cleaning it every 3 month's.

  • It works on my ps3 slim 120gb

  • The fan test worked on my 80GB Fat PS3, but i still couldn't get rid of the Red blinking light problem. So i just kept my ps3 on without a disc in it and it didn't turn off! Anybody knows what's the problem in my ps3 ?

  • I don't have a diseject button..

  • Does this makes tha built-in fan run every time??? Or just this time when you do this???

  • @staticbeepbeep ps3 or xbox, both suck seriously on reliability.

  • Edit: its only usefull to use if you have green dots and stripes on your screen or you got the green light but no video problems! Both are meaning your ps3 needs repair already and both COULD be caused by sticky dust on the graphics processor. In this case it could be used, because if you dont the ps3 is ready for mister mechanic already

  • LLOL, this function is merely to test if a overheating playstation still has a proper working fan, to remove a stuck disc from a ylod ps3 and if the isnt caused by a defective power supply!! It doesnt clean anything and it can actually break an already weakened ps3 due to the vibrations it causes
