A video response to YoppyKyabetsu's question about where the drones should sound on 'Over The Waterfall'.
Yoppy, this is how I've been playing it for a few years now, bad habits and all!
On reflection, I think it's nice NOT to have drones going on all the time but to create some contrast within the tune.
I never really thought about what I actually do until I videoed myself for this! Looking at it now, I seem to add most drones to the B part, which is more rhythmic, and less to the A part, which is more melodic.
In answer to your question, I would suggest that there's not actually a 'right' way of doing it. Just listen to as many versions as you can, take the bits you find appealing, and assemble your own version. Then play it over and over until your fingers know what to do without you even thinking about it. That's what I do anyway!
NB. You may drive your family, friends and colleagues insane in the process!

  • Thanks so much for this! in the part 2 caveman video I think I am coming to the same conclusion, droning on the B part and leaving the A part more spare.

  • @YoppyKyabetsu Cave man evolve fast Yoppy!
