Timing of the assassination depends on how the mission started. If you kill the target right after the watching the cutscene, the start time is first frame of the white flash that completely saturates the screen. This is not the same as the flash you see when you become Exposed, which does not completely saturate the screen. The end time is the first frame of the kill animation. The camera angle changes for the kill animation, so this is easy to discern.
If you fail the first attempt after the cutscene, your next attempt will be from a reload memory. In this case, the first frame of motion is the start time. It is a requirement to move promptly when the mission starts; you can't just stand still in effort to delay the clock. The end time remains the first frame of the kill animation.
Most missions will have an advantage when played from a cutscene since you can position Altair with low profile movement before the white flash. The easiest way to challenge a cutscene record is to play through the game until you reach the assassination target. (Don't just replay a memory from the Animus.) If you fail an assassination attempt after the cutscene, exit the memory to return to the Animus. Once in the Animus, continue the mission again. You memory will reload in the Bureau before you've been given the feather from the Bureau leader. Talk to the leader and continue the game. PS3 players are encouraged to watch the following video before attempting blitzes.

A video is marked as Exposed (E) if Altair is Exposed at any time prior to the kill animation. Otherwise, it is marked as Anonymous (A).
The process for an assassination (i.e., the mission design) is given an arbitrary letter designation (B). Slight modifications of an existing process are designated by an apostrophe afterwards (B'). Manipulating NPC's by killing them or scaring them prior to the mission is not permitted. Glitched missions are not valid.
If you have a video of a new record, post it as a response to this video. Please keep the Sync Bar on your HUD as you make your video, so that timing can be more easily verified.

Is it possible to link into the middle of a video with "#t=4m55s"? I think that would be more convenient.
At first I didn't understand process = A, A', B, ... but now I get it. Those are the assassination "designs" so that they can be credited back to their inventor.

thx for the comments.
youtube's validation algorithm for annotation links doesnt recognize its own #t= feature. i suspect that it will be supported soon, as the annotation feature has evolved very rapidly. i'll start adding #t= to the links once it becomes available.
i'll add an explanation for "process" in the description.
