R.I.P. James Arness.
John Wayne is introducing you to Heaven much like he did in this video. While I wasn't alive during Gunsmoke's primetime run, I did watch re-runs as a kid with my dad, who was a fan of the show when he was a child. Thanks for being a childhood hero to my dad and myself, in addition to the many other millions of kids/grown adults who grew up watching Matt Dillon save the day on Gunsmoke.

John Wayne was always my favorite , and although I did watch the reruns of Gun Smoke, I'll admit it wasn't my favorite . I love to watch the old westerns and have found a n interest in the old series . Always wished the Duke was a regular on the series. Thanks for posting this clip.

@ColJimQ Somehow I don't believe that, seeing as how we have that separation of church and state thing.

OK. Every night I think. An Infrantry Officer from RVN.
I think 'In Harms Way',
This was the year I was born, so much has changed since....it makes me sad to see television then compared to now. In 1961 we still had a prayer before class and stood to pledge the flag. We had a sense of decency and pride in our society and country then. I feel sorry for my Grand kids the school they go to is a mess, no respect for the teachers and the teachers have no respect for the parents or any moral authority. Anything goes now a days to our own undoing.

Thanks. No one can claim that our nation has been headed in the right direction.
God bless,

@ColJimQ I wonder if schools even have 'assemblies' anymore, and if they do, what takes place? Anything intellectual?

@Juliaflo Some of the schools now teach elementary children to pray to allah and have visits to local mosques.
