1.You can also prepare some slip by drying up the slay you are using, crushed them up with a hammer and mix and stir with water till you get a thick creamy consistency. You can mix alittle of cooking vinegar in the slip too.
2. Scratch the surface to be joined in a cross-hatched pattern. Put some slip or water and scratched again.
3. press together the section that is needed to be joined, taking care not to put any air bubble in-between the joints.
4. Reinforce with a clay coil/snake.
5. test all joints by gently pulling on the parts that are just attached. They should all be nice and strong joints.
6. Wrap the whole project in a plastic bag to equalize the moisture of the clay. Leave it wrapped for 1 day to a week. before letting the project dry slowly and completely to get it ready for bisqued firing.
