  • Garage formed, Underground Garage, Which then formed Dubstep which formed Drumstep. There you go 10 year history. Now listen to the fantastic beautiful song.

  • @Ihatelads You might want to be a bit more specific than that as people outside the United States claim House music originated in the UK. This is the timeline: Disco > Chicago House/Early New York Club Music > New York/Jersey Garage House > UK Garage > 2-Step UK Garage > THEN Dubstep. Get your facts straight, dude!

  • Whole era from 2step, dark garage and grime to dubstep is blurry to me anyways. At the end of a day it's about music, not about genres if I'm not mistaken.

  • @redswitch23 Amen to that!

  • Sub genres don't just suddenly go boom here you go. It's a slow process over many years of taking inspiration from multiple genres which influences new producers purely making this new sound and thus a totall new scene develops. One tune has and never will be solely responsible for creating a new sub genre of music, merely just another inspiration to someone pushing things forward in search of identity.

  • love this, i should listen to this album more!!! (you're either about the music or you chat shit about genres.)

  • ^these people obviously get their facts from wikipedia

  • For fuckssake, it doesn't matter when something "became a genre." Genres are nothing more than general classifications that can't truly describe an individual artist or song. You can't deny that dubstep was created and circulated before it "became a genre." Hell, it was only a few years later when the music became more popular that it "became a genre," and by that point, the sound of dubstep had morphed into something completely different... Silkie I respect. Doctor P, I do not.

  • dubstep: fresh basslines since 99
