On 12/4/2011 Members of Occupy LA signed a petition demanding that President Obama Veto the National Defense Authorization Act because it allows US citizens to be detained indefinitely without a trial. Here is the full text of the demand. "Occupy Los Angeles demands that President Obama veto the National Defense Authorization Act. The legislation includes provisions which destroy the Constitutional rights of Habeas Corpus and Due Process. American citizens and all people everywhere have the inalienable right to contest their imprisonment and to a civilian trial by jury. We reject this and all legislation which abridges these rights as well as the false belief that doing so will make the nation more secure. The bill also contains sanctions against the oil industry and monetary system of Iran which are clear precursors to a military attack. Additionally, the bill funds wars that the majority of Americans oppose. These endless senseless wars only serve the Corporatist interests of the 1% and we oppose this and all legislation which enables and perpetuates them." You can also read an article about it here.. .http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/02/national-defense-authorization-act_n_1125768.html?ref=politics

  • Great video! Thank you so much for posting this! Will tweet it WIDE. Keep up the amazing work...

  • @jeanniedean Thanks. It's incredible that our Senators voted 93 to 7 to take away our rights to a trial. What is even more incredible is that most main stream media is not covering this. I think this issue really shines a light to the fact that our politican don't speak for the people and that we don't have a free press anymore. Next they will go after our right to free speech. When they do that, they will arrest me for putting out this comment. Will people rise up then?

  • @lizzabbott I have already switched parties from Democratic to the Republican party to vote for Ron Paul in the Primaries. Although I don't agree 100% with Ron Paul's policie, I want to audit the Fed, prosecute the banksters and end the Patriot Act. These issues are more important to me than my disagreements with the cuts in spending of domestic programs that Dr. Paul is proposing.

  • REVOLT!!!! NOW!!!

  • We're going back to the medieval era. Dark dungeons and christian inquisitions. I'm crafting my level 3 mace and chain armor.

  • @TomThe99

Yes, and the MOST important issue is our civil liberties. The odious & vehemently ***unconstitutional National Defense Authorization Act just *quietly passed the Senate (93 to 7...) which gives the military the ability to operate unfettered on U.S. soil, round up and detain ***indefinitely (WITHOUT a lawyer or trial) ***any American citizen the government defines as a "terrorist", "enemy combatant", etc. This opens the door for the potential formation of a police state...

  • @TomThe99 WONDERFUL! That is good news!

  • @ThkThe99 And remember that Sen RAND PAUL was among the few who voted AGAINST this tyrannical, draconian Bill. VOTE for his Dad, RON PAUL, for President in 2012! Because no matter what you've heard to the negative about Rand & Ron Paul, they both are medical Doctors, who quit their thriving practices, to fight for LIBERTY! See if you're still within the deadline in your State, to register Republican ASAP, & vote for Ron Paul in the 2012 PRIMARIES! See Blue Republicans on FB.

  • BRAVO, Occupy L.A.!
