In q-bert's studio they don't use vinyl to create the playing beat, but wrather hook all mixers up to one mixers output and play midi or mp3 files through the midi controller and scratch over them with vinyl. That way, when there is 10 dj's in his studio, they all have control over the playing track, and not just the DJ who is actually playing the vinyl on his platter.
