Of caracals and servals, which species is less temperamental? I've heard servals can be very good natured but often have little hissy fits, and I've heard that caracals tend to be less mood-swingy. On the other hand, it could be possible that people are misinterpreting their servals hissing right? I mean they hiss when happy and excited as well as when angry....
I wish there was a serval rescue around so I could get first hand experience, since I want one someday.

I know a gal with a Serval, they're very high maint. pets, but omg so worth it! And she named him Sammy. He was the biggest lovey-dovey furball ever and if you had one ounce of energy to spare, he demanded it be in pets, headbutts and snuggles...

@vrrok13 They are indeed outdoor cats. This was over their first winter when we were constructing a climate controlled habitat for our smaller African cats. Thanks to Scott Cook at warmyourfloor (dot) com who donated radiant floor heating systems, Sami, Oscar and Kenya, another serval have fantastic accommodations year round at Cedar Cove.
