  • for one we dont live in a democracy, we live in a republic. a democracy is about the 51% stomping on the other 49%. read the constitution. the free market is chacks and balances because of competition. "natural" monopolies only happen because of government lobbyists. our current current economic policy is about price fixing, bubbles, and bailing out faluires. if it was up to the free market w/o a federal reserve, the market would be diversified.

  • There are checks and balances in the govenrment, 3 separate branches, in fact. In order to prevent tyranny of the majority the Senate requires a super majority to pass bills. Monopolies do not need a government to arise, and in fact, in the absence of government BECOME the government. We are so far past the "free market" and gold standard by now I am amazed that people like you still believe in the ancient gods.

  • After witnessing the events of the last 3 weeks if there is any doubt in mind that the markets are manipulated and our government are manipulated our media(fox/Rupert empire) are manipulated. We need to expand our views, back away to see the full picture of our prison. Stop focusing on the details and view the NWO from a GLOBAL aspect (WTO,WB,IMF,WHO) and How they are splitting the world into 4 sections. They are CONSOLIDATING 1)Military 2)Banks 3)Governments

We have NWO in its birth state. AWAKEN

  • We are in the death grips of a failed free market ideology. Political boundaries require economic boundaries. No one was minding the market and it derailed.

  • @scepticsteve I read Mr. Lord's article and found it fraught with "connect-the-dot" accusations. I made a post on the article, but in short Mr. Lord's main claim to Ron Paul being a neo-lib is that he is an anti-Semite. Paul wants Israel to be sovereign from our interfering gov't to be able to protect itself.

Just because Paul is a non-intervetionalist, what really drives his stance is that the wars we are currently sustaining are unconstitutional because they were undeclared by the Congress.

  • @2009zigi I believe in Christ's teachings & therefore believe I have a duty as an individual along w/ my church to provide for the marginalize in our society and in the world as a whole. I just don't believe that the government can effectively (i.e., w/out huge waste) support the marginalized, as good intentioned as it is. Gov't regulations & policies not only infringe on personal liberties but also distorts whatever arena it decides to engage in. We need less gov't as the Constitution allows.

  • You actually bring me on the side of Ron Paul. I hate you for that. Give me ONE example where a cartel or monopoly survived without the crony government? It's precisely because of government regulation that there are distortions. Just look at the real histroy of Standard Oil. It brought cost down to a fraction and gained overwhelming market power. Nobody complained, cost went down and competitors emerged nontheless. See Jeffrey Lord's analysis why Ron Paul is a neo-lib. The markets are fine.

  • just looking at Pauls religious convictions makes you know he's a loony

  • I agree with the author. From an european perspective that i write, Ron Paul looks like apopulist alternative of the same ideology that brought the whole world into the mess.

I also can't believe that "christians" are against the solidarity with the poor. Stomping on the poor is a sure way to go to hell. Neoliberalism is warfare against the poor and the needy. Bible believers should really study the story of the rich man and the beggar eating the richmans crumbles.

  • I'm surprisingly giving you a thumb up.

I was very found on RP ideas when I first heard of them, but all it took for me to back up was to get in contact whit the Mises Institut.

I cannot endorse some of their utopies! There were people there actually advocating for the extinction of any authority over business and finance beyond city levels. That's taking the power away from people to defend themselves against Corporations acquiring absolute control. That's just insane!

  • Check out David Harvey. He wrote a book called A Brief History of Neoliberalism.

  • Good analysis. It had to be said.

    5 stars.

  • Neoliberalism has nothing to do with liberalism.
