Ur good but u make things complicated from when you can just add 5 to both sides so x will equal 8

Bobatii, in order to move the -5 from the X to the other side of the equation, you have to perform the opposite operation. Since -5X really means -5 multiplied by X, you need to divide by -5. Since he is talking about the Multiplication property here, he writes it as -1/5.

I have always found it easier to write it like he does on the next problem where he has -10x/-10. It means the same and it is less confusing.

multiplying by -1/5 is the same thing as dividing by -5 if you would rather think of it that way.

He just multiplied the reciprocal of -5 on both sides to get rid of the five so the x can be alone.

-5=-1/5

its the reciprocal of 5x. He does that to make X by itself.

he explains it oddly but when you divide fractions you multiply by the reciprocal. in some cases it's written more simply by dividing on both sides. there are many ways to go about math equations keep that in mind :)
