United #869 SFO-HKG B747 Takeoff
-----------------------------------------------------------
The United 747 leaving its biggest west coast hub to hong kong. Standard takeoff, I'm guess. I thought the flight route was interesting... flying over Alaska, then Russia and China. Flying over Alaska was a treat!!! Loved seeing those mountains. Side note: the in-flight flight tracker route history isn't exact , but the current position is.

The landing was at night, so no video (sorry). But if you insist, it was an ILS approach at HKG cause it was so foggy. And while listening to ATC, the tower asked mr. pilot if he had a lot of experience, which (thankfully) he said yes. Then ATC let him fly the approach at 1,800 feet (think of those surrounding mountains! and the fog). There was no speed restriction for most of the other traffic (including us).

Also found out that in Chinese airspace Chinese airlines communicate with the ATC in Chinese.

Cruising altitude: 29,000-37,000 ft

Callsign: United 869

On a B744. From runway 28R. Economy plus. January 2012.
