I am Japanese.
They are bowing to "the spirit of train" and to "their job itself"(=you can say it god of job).
It is kind of 道(DO) which means the way of TAO.
It's as same as BUSHSI"DO".

I am Chinese, and to be honest, I really feel uncomfortable when people bow to me, because in China, the majority of time when people is to dead people
-
@colindominy horrendous atrocities? You are totally brainwashed by Chinese Communists.
-
Did anyone else notice there was no one in the train?

@ilovesudan Exactly why were trying to kick all of you racist , no manner whites out of here!
-
I think they are bowing to thank the people for stopping and allowing them to board. Makes sense to me.

@ilovesudan Indeed: I once directed a japanese tourist to the right platform on a pretty small station here in the Netherlands: the man was so thankfull he 'rewarded' me with many bows: until he reached the stairs he walked back bowing: after that he found it appropiate to turn around. It's something beautifull that you almost want to do yourself, but you're so stunned that it happens that you forget it ;)

You would think the Emperor would riding in that train, wouldn't you? No, it is just common folks like us riding in that train. How humbling.
Geez.. you're quick to judge.. shows how much respect you got for others.. They bow as the train enters the station so I found it a good title for my vid... sorry if that offended you on your high horse.. I been to Japan 4 times and am not oblivious to their ways.. neither have I put the video on here to spite or humiliate this amazing country and it's people.. It's more of a reminder of what's lacking where I'm from.. and that's that.
