Hey your eyes look exactly like mine!!! Mine are a little darker. Yellow-Green around the pupil, and mainly a blue-gray-greenish sort of color.

Yeap, it's gets bigger to allow light to pass by direct to the optical nerve. And encloses itself do the opposite, that been a direct contact with a light source.
Try it by yourself, go to some mirror and stare directly some light bulb (or the sun)
and then stare back to the mirror.
