  • Would've been nice to hear him answer her question.

  • Religious people should not be permitted to work.

    Employing irrational mentalities promotes instability.

  • Unfortunately you have compounded your error by qualifying it with another !

If you do not click REPLY - I receive no email notification and thus might forever have no knowledge of your erudite contribution. Using @tellnet to communicate is NOT a reply.

I stumbled upon your comment serendipitously - while responding to @SpiritedAmore

  • Although I definitely do not agree with theists and believe they are indeed suffering from mental illness I don't think religious organizations should have to hire non-religious people. It is like walking into a math class and demanding the professor teach history. It just defeats the purpose of that organizations. I would like to see an end to all of these religious organizations that offer help to the needy while preaching their faith.

  • Everyone needs to work to live even if they are mentally ill or not. Mystical thinking is a wide spread epidemic and even the most rational of people become mentally ill. Not working not only effects that person but can effect their family so I think they should still be allowed to work.

  • @tellnet 1. I'm a atheist 2. yes I made a mistake when continuing my reply. even rational people make mistakes. 3. psychological issues can be found in even the most rational and intelligent people. religion and irrational beliefs can be from psychological issues, I think Dan Dennett did a lecture on that or something closely related.

  • There are many "apparently" intelligent religious people.

Truly intelligent beings do not have irrational beliefs.

Your statement that you are studying programming would seem to imply that you are religious and intelligent ... Two observations:

    1. Studying does not imply proficiency.

(I AM a computer programmer - I am NOT studying to be one)

    2. A logical, intelligent individual would not have continued a response to me by replying to self - I inadvertently found your continuance.

  • agreed, and good one!

  • I agreed with your statement because there are those who can't seem to keep their religion to themselves damning everybody who doesn't believe as they do. Those people can only cause problems with co-workers and the way our politicians are becoming is quite scary with all the super religious candidates and religious following them. Add in a unhealthy dose of ignorance and this country can fall and become more like the Islamic countries of the middle east.

  • Many people believe in many things yet know when to leave their more extraordinary(maybe not to them) beliefs at the door. I think I was digging in on the specifics of your comment but there are many very intelligent religious people and probably make good employees as long as religious conversation doesn't come up. But most people who deal in science or logic fields are not so religious. I'm currently going to college for programming and you have to know your logic well to do that efficiently.

  • Very true.

However, a mentally ill individual would be more productive than the religiously afflicted - no mental incumbrances.

And, not being willfully ignorant, a mentally deficient person would be more reliable - less deviant - and honest.
