Haleakala is a spiritual place and you can't build on sacred ground without desecrating it, as heard in public testimony against the building of the Advanced Technology Solar Telescope on Maui. June 3, 2009.
I am afraid that I expected a different sort of behaviour from someone, like Leiohu Ryder, who presents herself as a Peace Hero, Peace Educator, and practictioner of conflict resolution (Ho'oponono). The approach of a professional negotiator would be to find common ground and room for increasing value for all concerned. Instead, she says that there is no common ground, and that she must have her way only. Is there some way the ATST people can appeal to her, by promoting her practice?
