This is another video of the Atari Jaguar game Kasumi Ninja. I play a couple of rounds and get my butt thoroughly kicked. I haven't played this game in years so I totally suck at it now. As in the other Kasumi Ninja video, there may be a noticable hum due to the low volume of the game.

  • Is the Jaguar 16 or 24 bit? This game looks SNES-Genesis quality

  • @modewr

It was marketed as a "64-bit" system. It actually used a combination of 16, 32, and 64-bit components. However due to hardware bugs, difficulty in programming it, and the fact that it had no hardware 3D support (all 3D had to be done in software) no game ever came close to looking "64-bit". Bits don't really matter anyway, that was just all marketing hype back then.

  • What emulator are you using?

  • This was captured from a real Jaguar.

  • i'm the BIGGEST MK nut and I must ask, why was this game not successful? the graphics are amazing, this was released in 1994 and its 2008 and the graphics still look outstanding to me.

  • The graphics were good at the time. But the actors they used for the fighters looked like they rounded up a bunch of hobos and took them to a Halloween shop for their outfits. The controls stink and respond slowly or sometimes not at all. The collision detection isn't the best and not all hits register. And the AI is pretty dumb and the difficulty setting only adjusts how much damage they do to you.

  • They should port this to the DS.

  • That scottish dude adds a new meaning to great balls of fire.

They did say William Wallace once destroyed armies with fireballs from his eyes and thunderbolts from his kilt!

  • thundra = hooker version of rayden :D

  • uuuuu my balls are on fire!!!!!

  • @modewr also nothing could do the graphics like this, the fuzzy video dosent show the background graphics that well.

    a snes couldnt do this.

but that dosent mean the game play is better than say killer instinct on the snes.

    because it isnt.

but it is a good mortal combat clone and worth a play.

it gets very unfair negative reviews because of peoples over expectations of the system, but its a good game.

    just nothing that exceptional

  • @modewr the jaguar is 64bit, it was held back by the same problem as the n64.

although it was 3x the power of the playstation it couldnt even begin to put that power down due to the capasity limitations of the catridge and under performed on average.

even worse than nintendo atari had poor developer support, were close to bankruptcy and very few game developer had touched on 32 bit systems never mind a very complex machine with 5 processors on 2 chips.

saturn had problems with just 2.

  • @ColonelAngus75

You got the Halloween thing from Classic Game Room..

  • what does Angus say?

  • @syrupykeyboard Yeah they gotta remake this with more punch and kicks.More intense music, redo the finishers like Demon Gyaku just rips the head off and doesn't eat it or anything and there is to much finishers involving the torso being cut in half and take out cluggish controls and make it so you don't have to actually hold C down and hit like down forward back forward back.

  • idk why but i really wanna play this pile of shit game! Lol!

  • @sayonarakid f16 fighting falcon on the sms is.

  • the visuals look good with all those hi-res digitized sprites and backgrounds, but the characters are just plain bad. and the "ninjas" look more like hospital orderlies than medieval japanese assassins. when you add in the awful music, uninspired fatalities, and bad controls you get what essentially reads like a really lackluster mortal kombat clone :/
