  • This is why the 1998 version cannot hold a candle to the magic of this movie. The level of emotion Maureen and Haley give to Susan's reveal scene alone has more heart and depth than the entire remake put together. Yes, the story is implausible, but Maureen, and especially Haley, make you believe in these characters and the joy between mother and daughter reuniting after many years apart. Unlike the Lohan version, nothing is played for cuteness here.

  • and i still get teary eyed.

  • I preferred the confession scene in the remake cuz Susan just shouts her head off here lol. All in all though I think both versions have their own charms.

  • The Gramps is so cool ;)

  • Wow!! No kiss for the grandmother! LOL!

  • Grandma was the lady in An Affair to Remember that Was Cary Grants old Aunt

  • The original and the remake are just as good.

  • The grandfather was awesome hee :D

  • i love hw the grandfather tries to use reverse psychology on the mom and she totally falls for it! love that guy!

  • It's a great moment when the grandfather stood up to the grandmother for the first time

  • I don't know how you can compare the Original and the Remake. They may have the same concept and name but that is really where the similarities end. The Original is MILES above the remake in quality and acting genius. You can't beat the charm & feisty-ness of Maureen O'hara portraying "Maggie" the newer version made this character SO bland. Also, Brian Keith as the father is the perfect match. Not to mention Haley, I always believed she was actually a twin! :-)

  • @freestrike2000 i agree this one is a classic but the remake is much better
