I preferred the confession scene in the remake cuz Susan just shouts her head off here lol. All in all though I think both versions have their own charms.

I don't know how you can compare the Original and the Remake. They may have the same concept and name but that is really where the similarities end. The Original is MILES above the remake in quality and acting genius. You can't beat the charm & feisty-ness of Maureen O'hara portraying "Maggie" the newer version made this character SO bland. Also, Brian Keith as the father is the perfect match. Not to mention Haley, I always believed she was actually a twin! :-)

This is why the 1998 version cannot hold a candle to the magic of this movie. The level of emotion Maureen and Haley give to Susan's reveal scene alone has more heart and depth than the entire remake put together. Yes, the story is implausible, but Maureen, and especially Haley, make you believe in these characters and the joy between mother and daughter reuniting after many years apart. Unlike the Lohan version, nothing is played for cuteness here.
