Hiroshi Yagyu, a Japanese television actor, makes you briefly relive the lavish service Pan Am offered aboard its China Clipper seaplane in the 1930s, on to a more modern-age First and Clipper Class. The background music is one of Pan Am's final jingles and slogans, "You Can't Beat The Experience". Only two years after airing this commercial and amid heavy financial losses, Pan Am sold its Pacific routes to United.

  • Its a shame the United States has crap like united, american and delta flying international routes pioneered by Pan American.. Indeed America has fallen...!

  • In any case running an airline is expensive. Of course people will go for lower fares 95% of the time, but striking a balance between low fares and high-level service is not easy. Any airline that can provide superb inflight service for the fares it charges is a competitive airline.

Unless only a minimal level of inflight service is desired, raising fares a bit is the only way to enable airlines to improve their inflight service. On the side, if an airline is sloppy with inflight service...

  • @vincentemosin---- Excellent aircraft maintenance...Consistently in the top 5 airlines in the world!! Singapore Airlines and Richard Bransons Virgin Atlantic credit their success from Juan Trippes Pan American!!

  • @vincentemosin------ Pan American was not kept alive because of Juan Trippe! Infact the company prospered under his leadership!!! It is ironic after his retirement in 1968 the company started to suffer from poor decisions that help lead to its premature death in 1991!

    3. This phenomenon is only happening in the USA and Western Europe...! A mirror image of bankrupt nations hijacked by banksters while Asian nations in better shape! Singapore Airlines! Low fares, excellent inflight service-----

  • @vincentemosin Well, your points are flawed.

1.Passengers want lower fares ..? You ran the stop sign........... In 1952 Pan American was the first international airline to petition for and inaugurate "tourist" (economy class) service on many international routes while continuing to expand its list of international destinations. At the same time petition for domestic routes which were repeatedly turned down..(2.) So much for political maneuvering..Furthermore---

  • @sanitman1 Well, it's understandable.

    1. Passengers want lower fares, full stop

    2. Pan Am was kept alive because of Juan Trippe's political maneuvering and regulation. When Trippe went and regulation went, the previously domestic-only airlines added international routes. Pan Am didn't have a domestic network. When it acquired National to try to get domestic routes, it only burdened itself.

    3. This phenomenon is happening around the world, in Western Europe and other places

  • thanks for adding subtitels i have watched this ad but wanted to now know what it says

  • I don't understand where you're coming up with this rather statistical and complicated approach to the simplest of ideas. I am a consumer, I am the one who pays to fly from Point A to Point B. I fly very frequently on international flights. I like to pay less, like all other passengers, to save money to spend on other things. Now, wouldn't you?

  • Are you dumb? Why the hell would they do that? Bumping up air fares would only drain more cash from peoples' wallets. Think before you speak before you say something stupid again.

  • They should push up the price of air travel, at least for international flights.

  • what a loose was PAM AM, no other American airlines like this PAM AM COMEBACK AGAIN
