  • The "roots" of Doo Wop can be found much further back, long before there was a "Ravens" vocal group. Vocal quartets go back into the 1860's and would later be called Barbershop Quartets. Long, long before the days of The Mills Brothers, there were quartets such as The Peerless Quartet, The American Quartet, The Haydn Quartet, The Sterling Trio etc. etc. Vocal harmony can be traced back into Europe and into the Catholic Church. A lot of "roots" seem to get cut off along the way.

  • For a dope fiend damn that Jimmy Ricks could sing, the whole group got it.
