2009 Corvallis daVinci Days - Graand Kinetic Challenge - Road Race Start

Start of the road race portion of the Corvallis daVinci Days Graand Kinetic Challenge. A le mans start is used whereby the contestants run across the pavement, jump into their human-powered kinetic sculptures and take off down the road toward the fairgrounds where they will ride over the sand dune and later traverse the bumpy, dusty field, then continue the 10 mile ride finishing here where it all began.
Tomorrow the sculptures will ride through the knee-deep mud bog and navigate two miles of the Willamette river before riding out of the water and returning here once again.
