Don't get me wrong I'll take X over XIII any day, I'm just saying that XIII's battle system should not be overlooked. I think it's right up there with the best of 'em in the entire series.

lol, I don't remember it being that easy. You must've been using the right paradigms the whole way if that's true. How did you do against Odin? To me that was the first challenging fight in the game and it happens pretty early. Did you skip all the missions? 'Cause there's no way you can beat almost any of the high level marks just using auto-battle, considering that Long Gui can wipe out your whole party with one Ultima even with a maxed out Crystarium.
