John Frusciante & Josh Klinghoffer - My Life
Album: A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence (2004)

A Sphere in the Heart of Silence is the fifth album in a series of six solo efforts that John Frusciante undertook from June 2004 to February 2005, and his eighth overall release. It is an album composed mainly of electronica-based material, and was a joint collaboration between John Frusciante and friend Josh Klinghoffer. Both of them perform vocals; John Frusciante sings lead vocals on "Afterglow", "Walls" and "My Life", and shares vocals with Josh Klinghoffer on "Surrogate People". Josh Klinghoffer performs lead vocals on "Communique", "At Your Enemies" and does the backing vocals for "Walls".

It's time to dive and join two long-term friends on their expedition through the depths of electronica. On the effort released under both of their names; John and Josh published some of the non-Ataxia material that was conceived during the performance shows at Los Angeles' Knitting Factory and a couple of other places. The first song, an instrumental titled Sphere had to be shortened by around 2/3, as the original version performed in December 2003 lasted about thirty minutes. The other songs, apart from the last one that somehow doesn't fit into the concept, being an intimate, short ballad, continue the travel through a completely different realm than the one a John listener is used to.

1. Sphere [8:28]
2. The Afterglow [5:19]
3. Walls [6:18]
4. Communique [6:56]
5. At Your Enemies [4:25]
6. Surrogate People [5:22]
7. My Life [1:37]

Lyrics:

My life goes blank
My life goes blank
My life goes bla-a-ank
My life goes blank
My life goes blank
My life goes bla-a-ank

Life was never what you thought
Life was never what you saw
Life was never was you sa-a-a-aw

The lights go out
The lights go out
The lights go o-o-out
The lights go out
The lights go out
The lights go o-o-out

Life was never what you thought
Life was never what you thought
Life was never what you thought
Life was never what you thought

  • This song actually sounds more like something that would fit to his album "Curtains". It has the same vibe.

  • wish it was longer

  • @Sonce64 It reminds me "Let It Be", by The Beatles.

  • 0:24 amazing

  • thank you john

  • This really reminds me of a Wake-The-Hell-Up type of church Hymn
