Inspired by RichardC64 on Burnkit2600 (again!!!)
Added controls for the following
Kick- vol, decay, pitch, impact
Snare- vol, decay, impact, tone
Hhat- vol, decay, tone
Tom- vol, deacy, pitch sweep
Hhat mute
Kick boost (you can hear it right at the end)

As well as this I added a Highly Liquid Midi decoder (the midi indicator is the flashing light, which triggers each drum and a quieter version of each drum. The pads do still work, but the LEDS dont

Finally there are individual outs for each drum, though the snare misses the impact

  • This one of the more useful sounding circuit bends i've seen so far. Most of em sound like annoying useless bullshit.

This nerd trophy sounds a bit less annoying than most circuit bent nerd boxes but it sure is a lot of trouble to go through when you can make this simple kind of dumb tweakble drum sound from the simplest of vst drum programs.

There are literally thousands of sample libraries and players that also have this sound and it is tweakble even greater in the software or hardware

  • @xraydelta1 True, but analog does sound different than any vst digital stuff.

  • Do you have schematics for this beast? Does Burnkit?

I have the synsonics drum machine... it's cool... but it needs help.

    Thanks!

  • @redepoch76 Yeah, pretty much all of this is on Burnkit2600. Cheers

  • That sounds awesome. Did you program that rhythm on the pads and then are just controlling it bia the breakout box?

    I wish mine did this!

  • @Rhythmicons cheers, just added midi with a highly liquid kit

  • I don't hear the usual hiss that I associate with Synsonics.... Did you upgrade the vca or something? If so, can you share the part number?

  • I used to use one of these back in the day. I often thought it could use some enhancement like this.

Are you willing to sell this? If so how much?

  • @xraydelta1 samples simply cannot touch real analog sound... software sucks too. i have lots of gear and lots of software, and although software is flexible and good in many ways, the sound just isn't the same. plus, it's not as fun to use. i'd rather have limited hardware with character than a super computer with all of the programs and samples I could ever possibly use.

  • Exciting! thanks for this - just pulled out my old synsonics and thinking about what to do with 'em - I'm inspired by this!

  • @wotatwaat and you own the result, as opposed to licensing(renting) software.

  • This is quite awesome. I just found my Synsonics in my basement after years of looking for it. I recently got into the MiniKorg and KAOSS pad so I figured hook everything up only to realize its not actually MIDI. Disappointing. I would LOVE to recreate what you've done here but I'm new to this (decent with electronics). Is there any possibility of a detailed tutorial for construction? I looked at burnkit 2600 and I'm a bit confused to say the least....

  • @stylinghead Yeah, I do. Message me directly for details. Thanks!

  • @stylinghead Funny that you ask. I just came across it the other day. So yes, I still have it. Message me for more details. :-)
